Organic is definitely a buzz word at the moment, but what can be gained from using organic make up?
Anything which is organic has to pass strict controls, for not only the end product but also all the component products. If make up is marketed and sold as organic then you know that when you buy that product it has been produced only from component products which are naturally occurring, have not been treated with chemicals and will not have done any harm to the environment.
The manufacturers of each of the substances with any organic product will each have to undergo their own annual inspection to ensure that the standards set by the soil association are complied with. This will include every part of their production line right through to storage, to ensure that at no point the products could have been contaminated.
The cosmetics industry has spent large amounts of money telling us how the goodness in their products can be absorbed into the skin to create a better healthier you. Assuming this to be true, isn’t it best that we only use products which are of the highest possible quality. Certainly the idea of harsh, harmful chemicals inside our make up being absorbed into the skin is not an attractive thought.
So the next question has got to be, is organic make up as good as its chemical competition? Make up is there it enhance how you look, to highlight our best features and perhaps to hide the odd blemish. For this reason one of the important things is to be sure that you buy the right product to suit your skin and best colors to enhance your features. But most importantly it must be good quality. Whether you buy organic make up or a regular high street brand quality is always key, no one wants panda eyes or smudged lips.
At the end of the day you will need to remove your organic make up, for which you will need a cleanser and moisturiser. It is certainly worth investing in a full skin care range and most manufacturers of organic make up will offer an extended cosmetic range including other facial and body products.
If you have chosen to go with the organic make up then here is a quick check list of what to look for:
• Make sure that the organic make up has a Soil Association mark. This is issued annually.
• Look at their packaging policy. A company who is truly environmentally friendly will put their organic make up in biodegradable packaging.
